Brainiac Recording is a professionally-equipped digital studio that specializes in recording teens and ‘tweens.  We don’t just set up a few mics and hit ‘record’.  We work with young bands to help bring out their best, lending assistance with arrangements, production, song-structure and dynamics. Along the way, we explain the steps of the recording process in a fun, easy-to-follow manner.  No experience required -- just the desire to do quality work.

We use PRO TOOLS, the industry standard in digital audio.

Enhancing the sound are high-end plug-ins from Universal Audio, Waves,

Anteres, Submersible, Ampeg, IK Multimedia and Izotope.

High-quality microphones from Neumann, AKG, Shure, Electo-Voice,

Audix and Oktava...

...are run through mic pre-amps from Avalon,

Davisound and Digidesign.

Though you probably have your own guitars...

...we have some, too.  Plus some sought-after vintage amps.

This 1958 Fender Princeton produces tones of amazing character and complexity.  An astonishingly loud 4.5 watts.

 

Need drums?  Our “house kit” is a 5-piece Pearl set from the 1980’s, with a Yamaha chrome snare and Zildjian cymbals.

BRAINIAC RECORDING is located in the fully-soundproof, converted garage

of my home in Rockridge, Oakland.  

It’s the perfect setting for a relaxed, rewarding and educational recording experience.  

Rates are only $35/hour, with no hidden fees.
