NOSTRADAMUS
Nostradamus took it bad
said he never really knew
all the crazy dreams he had
had a way of coming true
said a prayer that made him weep
drank enough to let him sleep
just before he found his peace
heaven's voice began to speak
It said,
If you want to learn to see
then open up your eyes
but just remember all you'll see
will only spoil the big surprise
nature's got a secret weakness
you can almost hear her speak it
under her breath
seconds ticking soto voce
listen closely
and you'll listen to death
Nostradamus took my hand
traced the lines across my palm
said it don't all look so grand
but he wished he could be wrong
told me not to be afraid
said I'm not the only one
then his voice began to fade
and his work was finally done
But if you want to learn to see
then open up your eyes
but just remember all you'll see
will only spoil the big surprise
And if you ever find a way
to peek behind the grand disguise
just remember all you'll learn
is not to blow the big surprise
