In the summer of 1998, I came to the bizarre conclusion that my future lay in the world of
country music. I would dash off a few quick ditties, sell them like grits to the good ol' boys
on Music Row, make a tidy bundle, and have my rent covered at least until Spring. So I
bought a pickup truck, tuned my radio to the local "Young Country" station, rolled up my
sleeves and went to work.
Alas (as you might have guessed) it wasn't quite that simple. To succeed in Nashville, I would have to live in Nashville, and slave in the trenches alongside all the thousands of other aspiring grits salesmen. Forget it. This CD contains the historical record of my brief journey into the world of cheatin' and chew. Most of the songs were written for the occasion, a few are earlier songs I attempted to rework. I still have the pickup truck. |
